PowerPatrol

PowerPatrol is an Internet filtering service which automatically blocks Web sites that promote objectionable content. No special hardware or software is required on your computer! PowerPatrol is meant to make the Internet more friendly for families and businesses.

PowerPatrol service is maintained by N2H2, the leader in Internet filtering technology. N2H2 "Bess" filtering is already used by schools and libraries across the country, serving millions of users. Powercom is pleased to work with N2H2 to provide high quality filtering service to our customers!

PowerPatrol with N2H2 filtering philosophy defines the following content as objectionable: Nudity, Adult Content, Sex, Violence, Drug Use, Gambling, Bad Language, Discrimination, Crime, Tastelessness, Chat Sites, and High Risk sites including but not limited to Web-based email services and free home page services. All sites are reviewed for filtering by people, not computers.

PowerPatrol blocks hundreds of thousands of objectionable Web sites. The list is updated on a daily basis and is highly reliable. However, neither Powercom or N2H2 can guarantee that all sites customers may find objectionable will be blocked. Customers are able to submit for review such sites while online.

Powercom offers two levels of PowerPatrol:

PowerPatrol Standard
PowerPatrol Standard service blocks objectionable Web sites. It also blocks telnet, chat rooms, and newsgroups, since these are often used for objectionable purposes.

PowerPatrol w/Password
PowerPatrol w/Password allows the option to override the filtering service enabling the viewing of sites that are blocked on the Web and newsgroup access via your Web browser. PowerPatrol w/Password requires a separate password, and is available only to the account holder on record to ensure security. This service must be requested when signing up for PowerPatrol.
